The Corona Ranch does not control the greatest amount of acres, but if you're looking for privacy, beautiful scenery and a incredible amount of game, then this is it.

A gentleman who we have done business with for years, called me in 2003 and told me he had just bought a ranch and wanted us to take a look at it. He told me the ranch was about 25 miles south of Craig, Colorado under the Wilderness Flat Tops and controlled about 1,800 acres next to the forest. At first to be truthful, I was not very optimistic about a 1,800 acre ranch, until I saw it. This place is gorgeous.

The views from the top of this place are simply breathtaking, there are just no other words for it. During 2003, we not only had the opportunity to manage the game on this property, but also had complete control of the livestock end as well. We felt that since we did not know much about this ranch, we would be ultra conservative in its management.

We took all the livestock off and only allowed 8 total hunters, who had been booked to hunt by the previous owner.   We decided it would be best to use this ranch as a "ace in the hole" type thing. By doing it this way the guides could become more familiar with the area and we would have a better feel coming into 2004.  Well, that strategy really paid off. During September, I sent a couple of guides down to the Corona Ranch to see what was happening and before I knew it, they were going back everyday.

This place was amazing, it was full of elk.  The 2 major canyons that run through this ranch are not only beautiful, but attracts elk like honey does bees.  To continue with our conservative approach we have eliminated all livestock use of the ranch again, and we do plan on allowing a limited number of new hunters the opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of this property. The one thing I guarantee you is we won't have any trouble finding guides to go with you. Of all the ranches we manage, I believe this could be the guides' favorite.

****NOTE In 2006 this owner purchased an additional 2800 acres at a lower elevation. Beginning in 2007 we will now also hunt this additional acreage on a seasonal basis.
