Snake River Outfitters has strived for years to provide a stable habitat for this area's elk herd. This has literally resulted in an over population of elk on our ranches. As responsible land owners, SRO feels that it is imperative to harvest a certain number of cow elk to maintain a healthy elk population in this area. We feel that the only viable way to preserve the balance of this herd is to offer Cow Only Hunts at a reduced cost. All COW ONLY Hunts are ran on a "Motel" Basis. SRO will provide guides ONLY, these are semi guided hunts. A professional staff will be available on all ranches to assist you with matters of transportation, game care and area knowledge. A one on one guide ratio can be arranged prior to all hunts at an additional cost. All hunters will be picked up daily by SRO personnel at the motel of their choice. Food and lodging are NOT included in prices. License applications for Cow elk are due by APRIL 1, 2007 (postmarked). It has been our experience that these are guaranteed licenses providing that all information on the application is correct. Snake River Outfitters will provide you with all the proper codes and information for these hunts. All hunters will be responsible for their own personal information and returning the application to the State of Colorado prior to the deadline. In previous years, additional licenses have been made available by the State of Colorado starting August 10th at Regional offices. The cost of out-of-state licenses have historically been $250.00 each. All SRO prices are based on individual cow hunts, however ADDITIONAL cow hunts may be added to any hunt. It is the hunters responsibility to obtain all licenses and it is required for anyone born after 1948 to have a hunter safety card.
Cow Only Hunts are an excellent Family or Group activity, therefore we have attempted to accommodate a family atmosphere and have made price concessions for groups of 2 or more.
Additional Cow Hunts may be purchased from Snake River Outfitters for $500.00 for the 2nd Cow and $250.00 for the 3rd Cow. The hunter is responsible for obtaining the additional licenses from the State of Colorado, which must be done prior to harvest.
All "Additional Cow" licenses will be purchased over the counter prior to your hunt. Primary Cow licenses may be obtained in 2 ways: (1) SRO will mail you an application, with the proper codes filled in for you, but you will be responsible for filling out your personal information and returning it to the State of Colorado prior to the deadline (April 1, 2007), with the proper payment amount.
