We here at Snake River Outfitters are very proud of our management of this area's deer herd.  As a result we believe we have one of the finest and most diverse deer herds in the nation.

Due to the fact that 7 years ago we installed a quality management system for our deer herd, we now have great quality deer and a great diversity in age structure within our ranches.

As a result we have found it necessary to offer two different options for mule deer.

OPTION 1:  GOLD MEDAL BUCKS

We only sell 6 for these hunts yearly; they are designed for the serious deer enthusiast and target mature bucks that achieve the B&C score of 180 inches plus.  Over the last 7 years the bucks taken in this hunt averaged 187 inches with several bucks achieving the 200 inch category.

Due to the flexibility that the RFW program provides we have scheduled these hunts to maximize the hunter's opportunity to harvest these exceptional animals.  This scheduling plus a one on one guide ratio makes for a unique opportunity to harvest an exceptional trophy.

We run these hunts at three different times throughout the year. These hunts are 5 day hunts at a cost of $10,000 per hunter.

(1)  Starting the last weekend of August has proven to be an exceptional time frame to view and harvest a once in a lifetime deer. The bucks at this time are in velvet and bachelor groups, which makes them highly visible to the hunter.  This in combination with the fact that this is the week before they traditionally rub and their antlers tend to be very sensitivity this week and they prefer to feed and bed in the open versus the brush, makes for an interesting opportunity.

(2)  Middle of October is another time frame, due to the fact that there is normally extreme pressure on the surrounding areas and ranches, mature bucks tend to seek out the solitude found within our borders.  This in combination that most of the leaves have fallen from the trees makes hunting these elusive animals, while difficult, at least manageable and normally productive.

(3)  Middle of November, the rut has begun and again, while hunting these animals is never easy, this week is extremely productive for harvesting and viewing.

****IT IS HEAVILY SUGGESTED THAT ON ALL THESE HUNTS A HUNTER BE PROFICIENT WITH HIS/HER FIREARM.  SHOTS OF 300 PLUS YARDS ARE COMMON AND AT TIMES NECESSARY.

OPTION 2:  SILVER MEDAL BUCKS

We sell 10 of these hunts yearly and they are designed for the person who wishes to harvest a mature deer, but who is not as conscious of the B&C score.  On this hunt we target MATURE deer that won't achieve a score of 180 plus inches.  We normally coincide these deer hunts to run in conjunction with the dates of our scheduled elk hunts.

The cost of these hunts are $5500 per hunter and have a 2/1 guide ratio ( a 1 on 1 guide ratio can be arranged at an additional $1000).  We also package these hunts with an elk hunt for the cost of $10,000, thus allowing the hunter opportunity to harvest two trophies on one hunt.
