Snake River Outfitters is a full service operation. If you show up with nothing we normally can handle it. We have all the towels, bedding, pillows at the camps.

However, we recommend that the hunter bring the following items:

  • A gun that is properly sighted in within two weeks of the hunt dates, with the same ammunition that you plan to use during the hunt. ****We recommend Winchester's XP3 bullets. They are very good.

We do have access to a gun range however, sighting in a rifle is time consuming and due to the fact that the hunt area is in a primitive area it is difficult to purchase additional ammunition.

  • Clothing and equipment recommendations:

  1. 2 pair of "broke in" hunting boots.

  2. Both light and heavy socks.

  3. Long Johns or warm under clothing.

  4. Quiet pants. Wool or new synthetic are both good.

  5. Camo coat.

  6. Several sweat shirts with hoods.

  7. Warm gloves.

  8. Flashlight.

  9. Binoculars. The best set you can afford or borrow. We glass a lot.

  10. Orange vest and hat (required by the state for firearm hunters).

  11. Personal items such as soap, shampoo, tooth paste, etc.

  12. Knife and saw. The guide will provide field care, but it is a good idea for you to have both.

  13. Shooting sticks that you are familiar with. Use before you get here to sight in with.

  14. Scope covers.

  15. Extra bullets.

  16. Camera.

  17. Something to carry items in while in the field. YOU DON'T need a huge heavy back pack, just something light and convenient to carry. I use a Turkey vest with large pockets. It is important that whatever it is you can shoot with it on.

  18. The houses are normally kept at a comfortable temperature. If for some reason you prefer to be hot at night then consider a sleeping bag. Or request extra bedding from the staff.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU BRING WHAT YOU NORMALLY HUNT WITH YOU WILL BE FINE.  IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BUY EVERYTHING NEW AT CABELA'S FOR THE TRIP.
