If you're looking for our best, then this is it.  As we stated before, we only manage the best ranches in this area and are proud that regardless of which ranch you hunt, you are going to be successful. This ranch is the main stay of our operation. We have been managing this ranch for over 20 years, it is enrolled in the Colorado Ranching For Wildlife Program. I normally run this ranch myself and this is where the majority of our t.v. shows are filmed.

The Slater Ranch consists of 35,000 deeded acres and in 2000 was accepted into the Colorado Ranching For Wildlife Program.  The number of elk found here is amazing . It is not unusual during September to hear hundred of bugles everyday.  In October, the shear numbers can be overwhelming, a very normal day consists of at least a couple hundred head of elk and many days the clients return talking about seeing over 500 head.

In addition to these amazing elk numbers, we can also provide mule deer and/or antelope hunts.  This gives you the opportunity to harvest two or three animals on one hunt. In the past 7 years, we have had a 90% success rate with all deer hunters. Please see side bar for more information and pictures on our exceptional deer hunting. For a sneak preview we will tell you we harvest only mature Mule Deer and for many years our ranches have produced some of the largest bucks taken in Northwest Colorado.

One of the biggest contributing factors to these amazing numbers  is our total commitment to wildlife management. Wildlife management has and always will be our main concern. We strive to manage the game herd on our properties, while providing you the hunter with a successful, fair chase, private enjoyable hunting experience.

In addition to this hunting experience, we also offer some excellent trout fishing.  There are several beaver ponds which have been stocked, and 2 1/2 miles of Slater Creek, offers excellent ways to relax and fulfill the total outdoor adventure. The only cost of this added feature is the cost of a fishing license.

There are two sets of facilities located on the ranch. The north end facilities, referred to as the Slater Camp and the southern end is referred to as the Elkhead Camp. Regardless of which facility you attend, both are equipped with hot running water, electricity, beds and pretty much all of the modern conveniences of everyday life. The most important consideration is that at both units there is an abundance of game, friendly folks, and excellent home cooked meals.

All game care in the field will be provided by Snake River Outfitters. At the hunters request we will transport your carcass to the local meat processor. All processing, taxidermist and shipping charges are the responsibility of the hunter. All hunts are run on a harvest or wound basis. The wounding of any animal shall result in the completion of the hunt for that species.

Snake River Outfitters feels fortunate to manage such productive ranches. We strive to provide our clients with not only a successful hunt, but also an enjoyable hunt and one you will always remember for years.
